Five people have been apprehended as part of what federal authorities describe as a drug trafficking organization located in New Castle.
According to the FBI Pittsburgh, agents worked with local, state, and federal law enforcement authorities in a tactical operation Friday morning at three locations in New Castle.
Federal officials believe the accused were part of a narcotics trafficking organization that received substantial amounts of cocaine and fentanyl. The FBI stated that the individuals traveled to Michigan and other states to obtain the narcotics before returning them to the area.
Authorities confirmed that five persons were detained during the operation.
The FBI has yet to officially announce the identities of individuals detained or the particular crimes they face. The authorities have not shared information about the evidence seized during the raids.
According to federal officials, more information, including the charges and objects seized during the searches, will be released as the investigation progresses.
The operation, which involves various law enforcement agencies, is still ongoing.
