The Akron Fire Department is investigating a deadly house fire that claimed one person’s life and killed two dogs.
Crews responded to the 1200 block of Carey Avenue, where they arrived to find heavy black smoke pouring from the structure.
The fire and smoke appeared to originate from the second floor, firefighters said.
One occupant had escaped the home before crews arrived. Inside, firefighters discovered one person and two dogs dead.
Crews successfully extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
