Cincinnati – A high-rise apartment building caught fire and was evacuated Wednesday.
The blaze broke out around 2:15 a.m. at a 16-story high-rise on Matson Place in East Price Hill.
Fire officials said the fire started in the building’s basement and was put out quickly. Firefighters found heavy smoke on some floors and light smoke on others, prompting a full evacuation of the building.
Cincinnati Fire Chief Frank McKinley confirmed that 150 residents were inside at the time.
No one was injured, officials said. The response was upgraded to a two-alarm call due to the large number of residents who could have been affected.
Fire officials don’t believe any residents will be displaced as a result of the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
