A teenage boy and a woman were found dead Tuesday morning inside an east Harris County home, according to authorities, turning a quiet block into an active crime scene. Deputies were dispatched to the 9400 block of Windy Spring Lane for a service call and found the two victims. The youngster, estimated to be around 17, was pronounced dead on the scene, while the mother was taken to the hospital and eventually died.
Precinct 2 deputies claimed they arrived at the Windy Spring Lane house to find the teen injured, while first responders transported the woman to a nearby hospital. According to Click2Houston, investigators have yet to disclose how either person was hurt and have concealed their identities until family can be told.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, along with Precinct 2 deputies. According to ABC13, detectives routinely ask anybody with information on violent instances like this to call the sheriff’s homicide unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). These hotlines are among the primary tools detectives use to gather information, establish leads, and locate potential witnesses following big incidents in the county.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will undertake the victims’ formal identification and autopsy. According to the institute, medical examiners contact next of kin to arrange identification and fill out death certificates. According to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences’ FAQ, this process is intended to validate the identities of the victims as well as the reason and manner of death before officials release their names publicly.
The double fatality comes after a string of terrible occurrences that shook sections of Harris County this spring, raising concerns about juvenile violence and community safety. Recent coverage of a late-May killing, in which a young man died after an argument escalated in a suburban apartment, highlighted how quickly regular conflicts may turn deadly in the area, according to late-night lovers’ squabble turns fatal.
