Miami Gardens robbery victim and girlfriend taken into custody after search warrant uncovers more than $6 million in cash, drugs

The man at the center of a midnight armed robbery that resulted in an intruder being shot dead by a neighbor has been detained, according to detectives, after a search order revealed more than $6 million in cash and narcotics combined.

The suspected robbery victim, Anthony Gordon, and his girlfriend, Danette Young, were both arrested during the investigation, according to the Miami Gardens Police Department.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the property and seized roughly $1.4 million in cash and narcotics, with an estimated street value of $5 million.

The arrests follow a shooting on Tuesday morning near Northwest 36th Avenue and 173rd Terrace.

According to authorities, an intruder broke into Gordon’s home at 1:30 a.m. and attempted to rob him and his girlfriend. The girlfriend ran to a neighbor’s house for aid. That neighbor grabbed a pistol, returned to the couple’s house, and shot the invader in the head.

The subject was taken to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

“That neighbor fired his weapon, striking the subject in the head,” Miami Gardens Police spokesperson Diana Delgado stated on Tuesday.

The neighbor, who later spoke with 7News about the incident but preferred to remain unidentified, has not been charged.
