A Texas Department of Public Safety brush squad patrolling the Starr County border apprehended ten illegal aliens attempting to slip into the United States. Among the group was a female Special Interest Alien (SIA) from Russia. DPS troopers are working the border region as part of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s (R) Operation Lone Star.
DPS spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez released photographs on social media of ten illegal aliens apprehended after crossing the Rio Grande from Mexico into Starr County. The group was detained by the DPS Brush Team while conducting an anti-smuggling operation near the state’s border with Mexico.
There was a Russian woman in the group. The US Border Patrol classified Russian migrants as “special interest aliens.” In the photo given by DPS, the woman appeared to be carrying a laptop.
The DPS crew turned over the ten illegal alien escapees to Border Patrol authorities for processing. The SIA Russian female will most likely be interviewed by the FBI or the Department of Homeland Security before being deported from the US.
Governor Abbott expressed concern about the SIA during his visit to the Republican Party of Texas state conference in Houston last week.
“This apprehension highlights the strong partnership between state and federal law enforcement agencies working together to deter human smuggling, enhance border security, and prevent gotaways from making it further into the interior of the country,” Olivarez said.
Border Patrol classifies migrants who are not arrested at the border as “gotaways.” Despite a 97 percent decline in illegal alien escapes reported by Breitbart Texas’ Randy Clark, Texas DPS troopers continue to track, find, and detain illegal aliens attempting to enter the United States’ interior.
Olivarez shared a video early last week of a tractor-trailer transporting illegal aliens in Brooks County, Texas. The large rig’s driver failed to stop when authorities requested him to, so tire-deflation devices were utilized to bring the truck to a halt. The tractor caught fire when the tire deflation system was deployed.
When the driver came to a halt, troopers took him from the cab, and he informed them that there was human cargo in the trailer.
The troopers swiftly opened the trailer and discovered 39 illegal aliens being trafficked into the US interior. The troopers promptly evacuated the illegal aliens as the fire threatened to consume the entire tractor-trailer rig.
“This incident is a reminder of the dangerous lengths human smugglers will go to when engaging in this criminal activity,” Olivarez said.
