A suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at 10055 Belknap Road on June 6 was taken into custody.
Axzey Mojica, 22, has been charged with murder in Fort Bend County, according to a news statement from the Houston Police Department (HPD). Another suspect, 23-year-old Iddris Umaru, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound as police attempted to arrest him. Umaru has also been charged with murder in Fort Bend County.
Sean Bree, age 39, has been identified as the victim. HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Smith and D. Toledo reported that HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of a strip mall at the above address and discovered a man with a gunshot wound. The person was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Initially, investigators named Umaru and Mojica as individuals of interest in the case. Following further investigation, both were charged on June 9. On June 13, the United States Marshals Service’s Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force and the Houston Police Department’s Westside Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team apprehended both individuals at 105 West Road. As law officials attempted to detain the suspects, Umaru pulled out a firearm and fatally shot himself. Mojica was arrested without incident.
