A Florida woman won $1 million while playing a scratch-off game.
The Florida Lottery recently announced that Debra Winters of Cocoa won a $1 million prize in the $25,000,000 Gold Rush Multiplier scratch-off game.
The Central Florida woman chose to receive her prize in one lump sum payment of $638,100.
The Brevard County winner purchased her winning ticket at Publix, which is located at 3820 Murrell Road in Rockledge.
She collected her large award from the Lottery’s Orlando District Office.
The $50 scratch-off game, $25,000,000 Gold Rush Multiplier, has a top prize of $25 million and a prize of $1 million. According to the Florida Lottery, there is one top prize and 28 $1 million prizes left for this scratch-off.
This game also offers over $1.2 billion in total cash rewards. The game’s overall odds of winning are 1 in 4.09.
Scratch-off games are a key part of the lottery’s range of games, accounting for over 74% of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024. Furthermore, since their establishment, scratch-off games have paid out more than $70.8 billion in prizes, created 2,475 millionaires, and raised more than $20.98 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
The Florida Lottery is responsible for more than $49 billion in education funding and sending over 983,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its revenue back into the state’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to over 13,550 lottery merchants, and educational transfers. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have given out over $104.8 billion in prizes, making more than 4,475 millionaires.
