A Houston teenager has been taken into custody and charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred during a Facebook Marketplace transaction earlier this year, according to the Houston Police Department.
Treveyon Wyche, 19, faces a charge of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 176th State District Court.
The charge relates to an incident that occurred on January 30, 2026, about 1:45 p.m., in an apartment complex in the 7500 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.
According to authorities, the victim set up a meeting with a potential buyer using Facebook Marketplace to sell an item. When the suspect arrived at the agreed-upon location, he allegedly brandished a pistol and robbed the victim of the goods at gunpoint.
Police claimed the victim managed to depart the area unharmed and later reported the crime to authorities.
A Houston Police Department robbery detective performed a follow-up investigation and named Wyche as a possible suspect. On February 20, 2026, detectives positively recognized him and filed charges. An arrest warrant was eventually issued.
On April 29, 2026, members of the Houston Police Department’s Crime Suppression Team spotted Wyche entering a car. Officers conducted a felony traffic stop and confirmed his identity before arresting him without incident.
Wyche was taken to the Harris County Jail and arrested on an outstanding aggravated robbery warrant.
The investigation is underway.
Houston police continue to advise individuals who use online marketplaces to make transactions in well-lit public areas and, when possible, use designated safe exchange zones overseen by law enforcement authorities.
