A truck driver and co-driver were taken into custody in Illinois after authorities discovered many pallets of cannabis products during a traffic stop.
On September 4, 2026, shortly after 11:30 a.m., Illinois State Police (ISP) stopped a semi truck going eastbound on Interstate 80 near LaSalle.
During the traffic check, an ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau trooper examined the truck’s trailer and discovered “multiple pallets of suspected cannabis and cannabis products, weighing approximately 5,858.4 pounds.”
The ISP arrested Mahmoud B. Bazrouk, 41, of Norridge, Illinois, and Haed O. Samham, 45, of Harwood Heights, Illinois, without incident.
The LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Bazrouk and Samham with cannabis trafficking, which is a Class X felony.
The team drivers were jailed at the LaSalle County Jail awaiting their first court appearance.
