Chicago Man Sentenced To 11 Years In Prison For Armed Robbery

A 26-year-old Chicago man will serve 11 years in Wisconsin prison for his involvement in a smash-and-grab burglary spree that targeted three Kenosha County businesses.

Matthew Zachary Newbern was sentenced to six years in jail, followed by five years on extended supervision.

His Wisconsin sentence will follow an Illinois case.

The burglaries occurred on October 18, 2024, at City Electric Supply, the Nike Factory Outlet, and The North Face.

According to investigators, masked perpetrators used a silver Toyota Tacoma, and Newbern used a hammer to destroy glass entrances.

Approximately $19,000 in items was stolen.
