Las Vegas police officer taken into custody on theft and burglary charges

A Las Vegas Metro police officer was taken into custody on theft and burglary charges Wednesday, according to the LVMPD.

LVMPD Officer Antonio Chavez was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on accusations of stealing ($25,000-$100,000), four counts of commercial burglary, and perjury.

Chavez has been with the LVMPD since 2020 and is assigned to the Community Safety Division, Northwest Area Command. He will be placed on unpaid suspension of police powers awaiting further inquiry.

According to documents, Chavez is set to appear in court on Thursday.
