2 taken into custody in dark-web drug operation that sold fentanyl to Miami agents as ‘HotGirlzClub’

Federal investigators say two people are responsible for a drug operation on the dark web that transported hundreds of parcels across the country, including to undercover agents in South Florida.

Nicholas Aguilar and Jessica Marcolina are accused of selling drugs as a vendor on the dark web named “HotGirlzClub” and laundering the proceeds with cryptocurrency from September 2020 to June 2026.

During the investigation, undercover officers in Miami purchased drugs labeled as heroin, but tests revealed more than 14 grams of fentanyl. The narcotics, along with 5.8 grams of methamphetamine, were delivered in shipments including clear, heat-sealed plastic bags “concealed among miscellaneous household items.”

Investigators said they discovered more than 500 strange packages linked to the sender’s address and were able to identify the suspects after studying surveillance footage from post offices, phony IDs, cryptocurrency transactions, and payout accounts.

Eventually, investigators were led to Marcolina and Aguilar’s Los Angeles homes. Both were present when authorities searched Marcolina’s home and discovered “distribution quantities of suspected controlled substances, drug packaging materials (including heat-sealed and black Mylar bags), printed warning labels, USPS packaging materials, label makers, heat sealers, vacuum sealers, and food processors with suspected narcotics residue,” among other things.

Authorities discovered drugs, dark web documents, and perhaps ten phony IDs at Aguilar’s residence. Agents discovered a gun manufacturing system in a shed in the backyard, producing ghost guns, suppressors, and uppers/lowers, according to the criminal complaint.

Aguilar and Marcolina face charges of conspiracy to distribute restricted narcotics and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
