Ohio woman sentenced to prison in case involving crimes against children at daycare

A former Ohio daycare worker was sentenced to an indefinite prison term ranging from 20.5 to 24.5 years after pleading guilty to 14 criminal offenses involving children, according to police.

According to WOIO, Medina County Common Pleas Court Judge William F. Hutson sentenced Faith Morris, 20, of Hinckley, on Tuesday, according to the Hinckley Police Department. Morris altered her plea to guilty in September, according to court records.

The allegations include four counts of pandering obscenity using a minor or impaired person, eight counts of illegally utilizing a minor or impaired person in nudity-related material or a performance, one case of sexual battery, and one crime of severe sexual imposition.

Morris formerly worked at a Brunswick daycare center. Hinckley police launched the investigation after receiving information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force concerning potential child sexual abuse material.

Investigators later searched Morris’ house and arrested her. During the search, police reported discovering other, unrelated child sexual assault evidence. During an interview with a Hinckley detective, Morris revealed details regarding her contact with daycare children. Police shared this information with Brunswick detectives.

The accusations derive from allegations that Morris made or published content involving minors, engaged in sexual conduct with children, or encouraged children to engage in sexual activity, according to court papers reported in previous reports. Morris pled guilty to the charges.

The Hinckley Police Department stated that the punishment cannot undo the impact on the children and families involved.

“While no sentence can undo the harm caused, we hope this outcome provides some measure of justice for the children and families affected,” the department stated.

Morris’ guilty pleas also resulted in her being classified as a Tier II sex offender and a child-victim offender, according to previous court reports. That categorization necessitates lifelong registration, with verification every 90 days.
