Two Suspects Indicted on Multiple Counts in Kane Roush Homicide

POMEROY, Ohio – Two suspects have been indicted on multiple charges by a special Meigs County Grand Jury involving the death of Kane Roush on April 4, 2021.

According to Meigs County Prosecuting Attorney James Stanley, the special Grand Jury returned multiple indictments on Keontae Nelson and Richard Walker. Both have now been indicted along with Jaquan Hall for the 2021 Easter morning homicide of Roush at his residence in Pomeroy, Ohio.

Nelson, 20, was indicted on one count each of unclassified felonies for Aggravated Murder, Murder, and Complicity to Aggravated Murder or Murder. Additionally, he was indicted on one count each of: Conspiracy, a felony of the first degree; Burglary, a felony of the second degree; and Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the third degree. Counts one and two have specifications on the use of a firearm.

Walker, 20, was also indicted on one count each of Nelson, 20, was indicted on one count each of unclassified felonies for Aggravated Murder, Murder, and Complicity to Aggravated Murder or Murder. Additionally, he was indicted on one count each of: Conspiracy, a felony of the first degree; Burglary, a felony of the second degree; and Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the third degree. Counts one and two have specifications on the use of a firearm.

Hall, 22, was the first suspect arrested in the case. He was indicted on charges on June 17, 2021 for: Aggravated Murder, an unclassified felony; Murder, an unclassified felony; Complicity, an unclassified murder; and Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Murder, a felony of the first degree. Hall currently being held on a $2 million cash only bond.

All three suspects are facing a possible maximum of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Prosecutor Stanley told the Meigs Independent Press that Hall is considered the main suspect in the case as he was the only one that knew Roush prior and had connection to Meigs County. Stanley stated that the major suspects in the case have been arrested, indicted and are in custody. Hall is currently held at Washington County Jail. Walker is held at Fairfield County Jail. Stanley said Nelson is presently in West Virginia, but is expected to be extradited by the end of the week for arraignment on the indictments.

Stanley noted the work of the Major Crimes Task Force for their work on the case and making the arrests and indictments possible. The investigation remains ongoing.
