Don “Rosie” Rose, 73, of Racine, Ohio left us unexpectedly on September 3, 2024. He was a loving and dedicated Husband, Son, Brother, Father, Stepfather and Grandfather. Rosie was raised on a family dairy farm and graduated from Eastern High School in 1969. He went to work right out of high school doing mostly construction and coal mine work. In 1984, he started his own business, Rose’s Excavating. As a member of Local 18 Operators Union and owner of Rose’s Excavating, his talent and skill with an excavator and operating a dozer were admired by many, and this was exemplified in his ability to always stay busy. Running equipment was where Rosie found his peace and purpose.

In his free time, he and his wife loved traveling to Florida in the winter. While making friends from all over the United States, Rosie was always helping others in his Florida community and staying busy. He enjoyed peaceful evenings and Sunday drives, usually to go bid a job or check out potential jobs. Rosie was the definition of a good neighbor and always helped no matter what. Above all, his work ethic, exemplary treatment of others, humility, passion for work and family have been passed on to those closest to him and will be missed by everyone he encountered.

To know Rosie, was to certainly love Rosie. Each person he encountered had a unique relationship with him. Always laughing and joking, Rosie had a special way of picking on everyone he knew.

Rosie is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Martha, brother Roger, sister Rosemary and daughter, Rachel Rae Rose Dill.

He leaves behind his wife, Laura Rose; son, Jeremy (Martie) Rose; sister Anna “Jeanie” Jean; stepchildren, Constance (Justin) Archer and Benjamin (Terra) Fowler; grandchildren, Lincoln, Kiersten, Kianna, Parker, Braylee, Boone, Penny, and Sy; as well as many close friends and family members.

The family requests continued thoughts and prayers. Join us and raise a cold Bud light or “Rosie Special” and salute to a life lived to the fullest! Until we meet again…
