James Edward ‘Jim’ Ward

James Edward ‘Jim’ Ward, 76, of Gallipolis ‘Went to be with the Lord’ on  Thursday September 12, 2024 at Holzer Medical Center. Born in Addison Township, on July 4, 1948 to the late Bernard and Zetta Mae White Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother, Alfred Eugene “Gene” Ward; grandchild, Justin and by his sisters, Ruth Ann Goody and Nora Louise.

Jim retired from OVEC after many years of service. He was a faithful member and had previously served for several years as a trustee of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a United States Army veteran, serving his country from 1968 – 1970. He always enjoyed hunting, and fishing and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Lynn Williams Ward of Gallipolis; children, Jamie (Tim) Kasler of Gallipolis, and Stephanie (Ken) Kiser of Greenfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Paige, Cody, Austin, Isaiah, Chloe and Rissa; and by 9 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Tuesday September 17, 2024 at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mina Chapel Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 11:00 AM. till time of service. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the VFW #4464 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the VFW #4464 Honor Guard in Jim’s memory.
