Residents in North Texas should brace themselves for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, with the highest danger being northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Storm chances will increase beginning Monday afternoon and lasting until late evening, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. Forecasters warn that some storms may produce huge hail and severe winds, particularly in areas ranging from Graham to Sherman and toward the DFW region.

The biggest threat window is from 3 p.m. to midnight, with storms heading eastward through communities such as Cisco, Waco, and Killeen. Residents should steer clear of flooded roadways, remain vigilant for notifications, and promptly seek shelter upon the issuance of warnings.

Lightning, severe gusts, and the possibility of hailstones are all hazards. While the most severe activity is expected northwest of DFW, forecasters warn that the whole Metroplex remains at risk as storms move through later in the evening.

Travelers on key routes such as I-35 and I-20 may face delays during peak commuting hours as the storm system sweeps through the area.

This weather danger is one of the more major storm events for North Texas this September, and residents are advised to stay vigilant to rapidly changing conditions throughout the evening.
