An 84-year-old Hialeah man was detained for allegedly threatening a child with a gun, according to police.

Elso Rodriguez Delrey was detained Saturday on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, according to the arrest report.

According to the report, officers responded to an apartment building at 138 W. 26th Street after receiving a report that a neighbor was threatening a 12-year-old with a firearm.

According to the report, a witness was on her balcony when she noticed Rodriguez “visibly upset” and knocking on an apartment door.

The witness stated that he pulled out a revolver and added in Spanish, “When I shoot him and you have to go pick him, don’t say anything,” according to the report.

According to the complaint, another witness saw Rodriguez bring out the revolver and say in Spanish, “I’m going to shoot him right now, and you’re going to have to come pick him up.”

Investigators also spoke with the victim, who claimed Rodriguez told him he was going to kill him and showed him the gun, and that he was afraid for his life, according to the report.

Officers detained Rodriguez inside the premises before arresting and booking him into jail.

He came before Judge Mindy Glazer, who appointed him a public defender, granted him a $5,000 bond, and ordered him to stay away from the youngster.
