SAN DIEGO, Calif. — A stout marine layer settled over the coast early Saturday, draping beaches and neighborhoods in a muted, silvery fog that slows the morning pace. The haze won’t last all day—and a sun-filled warm-up is queued up just in time for the start of Halloween week.
The National Weather Service in San Diego expects low clouds and patchy fog to break late this morning, giving way to gentle breezes and mild sunshine. Coastal highs land near 72°F today, edging into the mid-70s Sunday and reaching the upper 70s to around 80°F by Monday. Inland spots such as Escondido and El Cajon may run a touch warmer under clearing skies.
Drivers along I-5 and I-8 should plan for reduced visibility each morning through Monday, with the thickest fog likely near Mission Bay and Chula Vista. Conditions can be dense at daybreak but typically improve rapidly by late morning. Once the fog lifts, expect bright afternoons, light winds, and excellent weather for outdoor plans—or getting a head start on Halloween décor.
By Tuesday and Wednesday, drier air takes hold and daytime highs climb into the low 80s, ideal for late-October beach runs and evening events. Overnight temperatures hover near 60°F, keeping nights comfortable for pre–trick-or-treat preparations.
A cooler start to November looks possible, but for now Southern California’s golden stretch continues.
