Lewisville police exchanged gunfire with a man at a hotel on Business 121 early Thursday morning before arresting him following a three-hour standoff.
According to investigators, the man opened fire on officers as he stepped out of a room at the Budget Suites before retreating inside. Officers requested backup, and when an armored vehicle arrived, the suspect emerged and began shooting at it. Police responded to the fire, and the man retreated into the room.
After several hours, cops used tear gas and convinced the culprit to surrender. He was discovered with a gunshot wound and transported to the hospital for treatment. His condition has not been revealed.
Inside the hotel room, officers located a deceased woman. Her identity has not been revealed, and investigators have not explained how she died.
The case is still being investigated by Lewisville police.
