The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) arrested two people and recovered many firearms and drugs as part of a massive trafficking sweep this week.
The bust is the outcome of a years-long investigation into an international criminal organization that smuggled drugs and weapons. Detectives from the LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Division collaborated with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents to carry out search warrants in several sites throughout Los Angeles.
During the operation, police officers seized methamphetamine and multiple guns. HSI detained Jose Lamson and Reece Smith for their involvement in the trafficking network.
“This collaborative operation underscores our commitment to dismantling dangerous criminal networks that pose a threat to public safety both locally and globally,” the Los Angeles Police Department stated in a written statement.
