Indianapolis Man Apprehended After Holding Woman At Gunpoint In North Vernon Standoff

The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) de-escalated a hostage scenario on Monday afternoon, October 6, in which a local man allegedly held a female victim at gunpoint.

At 12:30 p.m., JCSO deputies were summoned to the 1300 block of North Huckleberry Drive in response to a domestic violence situation. The female victim was told to evacuate the house, but the male suspect, 21-year-old Kean Weston of Indianapolis, allegedly placed a handgun to her head as she tried to leave.

During a nearly hour-and-a-half standoff, Sgt. Thomas Mellencamp and Chief Deputy Cody Low spoke with Mr. Weston, who was sitting in a vehicle in front of the house with a handgun. Mr. Weston eventually complied, was detained, and transported to the Jennings County Jail without incident.

Weston faces the following preliminary charges:
