A 39-year-old Fabens man was detained after reportedly burglarizing a home and attempting to flee from deputies, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, about 10:20 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of NW Fassett in Fabens to investigate a home burglary in progress.
When deputies arrived, they observed a male suspect matching the description supplied by the reporting individual leaving on foot. Following a brief pursuit, the suspect was caught in the 700 block of Mesa Ridge, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was identified as Jose “Payaso” Rodriguez, 39, of Fabens. Further research found that Rodriguez was wanted for parole violation. He was also charged with escaping arrest or custody with a prior conviction.
Rodriguez was jailed without bond at the El Paso County Detention Facility, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
