Customs and Border Protection officials announced on Tuesday that three people who were in the country illegally were apprehended in Meridian Township last week.

The operation was first reported as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement action on Thursday. However, ICE authorities denied being the enforcement agency in charge of the operation and referred all inquiries to the CPB.

Meridian Township officials said that a “miscommunication” caused them to notify the public that ICE was active in the neighborhood.
