An angry parent was taken into custody in Covington County following an altercation with others at a Pee Wee football game.
Woody Dean Hutton, a Straughn resident, was arrested for allegedly having a dangerous weapon on school grounds following an incident at a Pee Wee football game.
According to the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began with a confrontation between Hutton and others during the game. Hutton is accused of displaying a firearm during the incident.
To preserve the integrity of the current legal procedure, the particular details of the altercation will not be revealed at this time, notwithstanding the known circumstances.
Following the arrest, Sheriff Blake Turman delivered a speech to the community.
“I fully support the rights of our citizens to bear arms. However, having a deadly weapon at a public school event is against the law. I am fully aware of the incident and assure the public that there is no danger to come from this event. I encourage our citizens to have the ability to protect themselves, but to follow the law as well.”
Hutton was arrested without any incident and transferred to the Covington County Jail. He was later released with a $10,000 bail.
Authorities are still investigating the situation.
