Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to two crashes in Champaign County on April 12, both of which resulted in minor injuries.
The first crash happened just before 11 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 55 and Valley Pike in Mad River Township. According to the preliminary investigation, Jessica Ike, 34, of Sidney, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer northbound on Valley Pike when she failed to stop at a posted stop sign at State Route 55. At the same time, Cynamyn Clem, 44, of Urbana, was traveling westbound on State Route 55 in a 2016 Honda CR-V.
The Chevrolet entered the intersection and struck the Honda on its side. After the impact, the Honda veered off the right side of the roadway, hit a sign and a ditch, and overturned. The Chevrolet also went off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch.
Emergency crews transported Ike by ground ambulance to Springfield Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Authorities cited her for a right-of-way violation involving a stop sign and determined she was at fault for the crash. Clem received treatment at the scene for minor injuries.
Later that afternoon, at approximately 3:51 p.m., troopers responded to a second crash on Runkle Road, just east of State Route 235 in Jackson Township. Investigators reported that Rickey Dennis, 32, of Dayton, was operating a 2008 Harley-Davidson Dyna Fat Bob motorcycle eastbound when he lost control.
The motorcycle left the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert, and overturned, throwing Dennis from the bike.
He received treatment at the scene for minor injuries and was cited for failing to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle.
Both crashes remain under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
