Woman seriously hurt in shooting on Columbus' south side

A woman sustained severe injuries in a shooting that occurred on Columbus’ south side Saturday night.

Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of Oakwood Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman suffering from a serious gunshot wound.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Grant Medical Center. She remains in critical condition.

Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, detectives have classified the investigation as a homicide.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
