Some Facebook users should keep an eye on their inboxes.
Many may soon receive a second check tied to a class-action settlement that has already sent payouts to thousands of claimants.
According to the official website for the Facebook, Inc. Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation settlement, second checks are going only to those who cashed their initial payments.
“The second distribution was approved by the Court to redistribute uncashed funds from the initial distribution to settlement class members who successfully cashed their initial payment,” the website states.
The additional checks are set to roll out in June, with payments going out in batches over a four-week period. The first checks go out June 9.
Emails sent Thursday informed users they will receive a notice three to four days before their second payment is issued.
The first settlement checks were distributed in September 2025.
The settlement was reached with Facebook’s parent company, Meta Platforms Inc. following a lawsuit, which alleged Facebook made users’ data available to third parties without their permission and claimed the platform did not monitor or enforce third-party access to the data they received. The settlement was reached to “to avoid the costs and risks of a trial” and to allow settlement class members to receive payments, according to court documents. Meta denies all claims in the lawsuit and that it violated any law.
