Over 70 people detained after police operation in Virginia

The Richmond Police Department reported that more than 70 people were detained during a three-day focused enforcement operation.

Police announced on Tuesday that the operation will focus on the Rocketts Landing and Jefferson Park districts in response to repeated complaints from residents about unlawful activity, excessive noise, reckless driving, trespassing, and other quality-of-life issues.

During the enforcement operation, cops detained 73 people on minor trespassing counts. The police also executed two felony warrants, but they did not provide further details about those cases.

The Richmond Police Department and Henrico County Police Division worked together to carry out the operation.

In a statement, Richmond Police stated that the department is still dedicated to resolving community issues and collaborating with law enforcement partners to improve neighborhood safety.

“RPD remains committed to addressing community concerns and working with our law enforcement partners to help keep Richmond neighborhoods safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike,” the department stated.

There was no additional information available concerning the arrests or the individuals involved at this time.
