Riverdale police say three people are in arrest after a child was fatally shot on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Riverdale police, officers were summoned to a home in the 13900 block of South State Street at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving a complaint of a child being shot.
When officials arrived, they discovered the victim, a kid with a gunshot wound, inside the home. Emergency crews arrived and pronounced the youngster deceased on the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the youngster as five years old.
Riverdale police seized the site and launched a homicide investigation. Three people who were inside the house at the time of the incident were brought into jail.
According to authorities, the three people arrested are all members of the victim’s family.
Charges against the three people have not been announced, and an investigation into the shooting is still underway.
