One person arrested after drug bust in Louisiana

A Crowley man was arrested on various gun and drug charges after a traffic stop on Saturday, according to the Crowley Police Department.

Tykell Brown, 20, faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Authorities said Brown was also wanted on a previous bench warrant.

Police said officers stopped a vehicle for speeding near the intersection of East Jeanette Street and South Avenue L. During the stop, one of the vehicle’s occupants admitted to having drugs inside and freely handed over more than 20 grams of marijuana.

According to investigators, officers noticed Brown placing an object beneath his seat while the vehicle was being pulled over.

A search of the car revealed further drug paraphernalia and two guns. Police claimed one of the weapons was an illegally changed Glock 30 handgun with a 30-round extended magazine. A second pistol, a Glock 21, was discovered behind Brown’s seat.

The driver of the vehicle was received a speeding ticket.

Brown was arrested and taken to the Acadia Parish Jail, where he is being held on a $17,600 bond.
