Over 150 People Apprehended Following Drug Bust In Virginia

Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies presented the results of a month-long crime-reduction initiative Wednesday, which resulted in more than 150 arrests, hundreds of warrants served, and almost $2 million in drug seizures across the Roanoke Valley.

Throughout May, Operation Combined Resolve brought together dozens of agencies to combat violent crime, illegal drugs, gun violations, and sought fugitives.

According to officials, the operation led to the arrest of 150 fugitives, the execution of 302 warrants, and the issuance of 273 citations. More than 75 cops participated in the operation.

During the operation, authorities confiscated methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and MDMA, as well as a number of guns.

According to officials, the amount of fentanyl found could potentially kill nearly 176,000 individuals, with estimations ranging as low as two milligrams.

Several major seizures were identified throughout the operation. On May 12, detectives apprehended a convicted criminal and seized two weapons after watching the suspect place an object into a car. On May 18, investigators seized about 12 ounces of fentanyl, guns, and cash from a location on Atwood Road. A search warrant conducted the following day resulted in the confiscation of six weapons, one of which had a Glock switch, as well as methamphetamine, cocaine, and crack cocaine.

Officials stated the operation aimed to break the link between illegal narcotics, guns, and violent crime.

The FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals Service, Virginia State Police, the Roanoke Police Department, Roanoke County Police Department, Salem Police Department, Vinton Police Department, and several other federal, state, and local partners all took part.

Law enforcement officials expect similar coordinated operations to continue in the future as organizations work together to battle crime across the region.
