Digital Trail On KIK App Leads To 15 Year Sentence In Florida Child Exploitation Case

A 30-year-old Florida man faces 15 years in prison after investigators tracked down his anonymous messaging accounts and discovered extensive child exploitation.

On Monday, June 8, Alexander Callison was sentenced to 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections, followed by a decade on sex offender probation. Callison faced a slew of accusations, including ten counts of using a computer to solicit a minor and three counts of directing or encouraging a child’s sexual activity.

He was also found guilty on five charges of sending harmful content to minors  via electronic devices and two counts of possessing child sexual abuse material.

The case against him began around a year ago. On June 4, 2025, the Gainesville Police Department executed a search warrant at Callison’s residence. The search was prompted by many “CyberTips” submitted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

These notifications indicated that someone was using the KIK messaging software to store unlawful material and deliver it to underage victims. Donna Montague, a Gainesville Police Detective, researched the reports and concluded that the digital accounts were directly linked to Callison.

Following the sentencing, authorities issued a public warning against predatory behavior online. The Gainesville Police Department reported that youngsters are actively sought and exploited via ordinary social networking and messaging apps.

“We encourage parents to have age-appropriate conversations with their children about the dangers of the internet,” the department said. “Please be vigilant and aware of any social networking platforms your children may access.”
