Blue Ash man taken into custody after disguising cameras as smoke detectors, records say

A Blue Ash man was taken into custody after it was revealed that he had placed cameras throughout his apartment and saved roughly 200 videos of a victim, according to a complaint filed in Hamilton County Municipal Court.

Malcolm Williams, 43, was charged with voyeurism, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and intercepting wire, oral, or electronic communication, according to court records.

According to court records, Williams saved videos of the victim’s talks using cameras disguised as smoke alarms in an apartment on Hunt Road.

Williams activated the recording device from various locations using an app and saved 190 videos of the victim between 2023 and 2025.

He was detained, transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center, and granted a $56,000 bond.

Williams is due to return to court on June 22.
