A New York resident claimed a $1 million prize from the New York Lottery this week.
Joseph Armenti of Farmingdale (Nassau County) won the second-place prize in the VIP Millions scratch-off game. He received a one-time lump sum payment of $651,010 after necessary withholdings.
Armenti purchased the winning ticket at Stew Leonard’s, which is located at 261 Airport Plaza in Farmingdale.
The VIP Millions game continues to award prizes, with nine $1 million second prizes and two $5 million top prizes remaining.
To check the status of any New York Lottery scratch-off game, players can visit nylottery.ny.gov and obtain the game report. The New York Lottery’s scratch-off games have proven popular statewide, producing substantial income. In fiscal year 2024-2025, scratch-off sales totaled $4,339,794,048.
A percentage of lottery proceeds goes toward education funding, with Nassau County school systems collecting $250,170,564 in Lottery Aid to Education monies during the same time period.
