A stabbing spree tore through a Walmart parking lot in Alabama, where a man allegedly turned a knife on multiple colleagues — killing one — after a female co-worker rejected him.
Pierre Eskew, 35, of Louisiana, was taking a snack break at a Walmart in Bessemer last Monday when a “brewing” dispute between him and 22-year-old colleague Darryel Sutton exploded into deadly violence aboard their charter work bus, according to cops.
Bessemer Police Sgt. C. Selman told local Fox affiliate WBRC that Eskew and Sutton had been feuding “for several hours, possibly days,” over a female co-worker who rejected Eskew after he made romantic advances toward her.
The two security guards were riding back to Louisiana with roughly 40 colleagues following a work assignment at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, WBRC reports. Their bus pulled into the Walmart for a snack break when Eskew allegedly drew a knife, stabbed Sutton to death, and wounded three others.
“At approximately 1:13 p.m., Bessemer Police officers and Bessemer Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a disturbance on the bus,” BPD said on Facebook. “Upon arrival, officers discovered that four individuals had suffered stab wounds during an altercation. One victim sustained critical injuries and was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment. The remaining victims also received medical attention.”
Police later updated the Facebook post to report that Sutton had “succumbed” to his injuries. The condition of the other victims remained unclear.
Fess Security, the company Eskew and Sutton worked for, declined to comment when AL.com reached out. A second bus picked up the remaining colleagues and transported them back to Louisiana.
