Teen discovered shot dead on Southeast DC street

A homicide investigation is underway after a 19-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday in Southeast Washington, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

On July 6, at around 4:30 a.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to the 2500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, after receiving a report of a person down.

When cops arrived, they discovered an adult male with obvious gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he died despite life-saving measures.

Police identified the victim as Turray Simms, 19, of Northeast Washington.

There have been no arrests announced.
