The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power confirmed that residents in Sherman Oaks woke up on Saturday to discover they had no water after crews worked through the night to repair a water main break.
LADWP dispatched crews to the 5040 block of Varna Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. in response to the break, where they identified a 6-inch rupture.
Crews relocated several vehicles in the immediate area to carry out the repairs.
Shortly after 11 a.m., LADWP announced that crews had fixed the break and expected water service to be fully restored to the area by 3 p.m. The utility company noted that once service resumes, residents do not need to run their taps, as the water will be ready for immediate use.
The cause of the break remains unknown.
