The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said that a man was taken into custody after human remains were discovered.
Investigators suspect the remains belong to Felicia Bates, who was reported missing and last seen by family members on September 13, 2026.
As the investigation into Bates’ disappearance advanced, Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten claimed investigators uncovered information that pointed to Albert Kendall Washington, 50, of Natchez, as a suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest on the accusation of first-degree murder.
According to Patten, Washington was staying at the Motel 6 in Monroe, Louisiana. He claimed Washington rejected orders to leave the motel room and barricaded himself inside. The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team arrived to the site and eventually arrested Washington.
The sheriff stated that Washington will stay in detention in Louisiana pending extradition hearings to Natchez, Mississippi.
The investigation is underway. Patten stated that additional material will be disclosed only when it is appropriate and will not damage the investigation or subsequent prosecution.
