A Fruitland Park man was detained for discarding a suspicious container near a Walmart in The Villages.
A deputy observed Teryl J’Mari Robinson, 25, driving a white Ford passenger eastbound on County Road 466A around 11:55 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s tag light did not work.
Seeing this, the deputy initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle turned onto Heald Way. It began to decelerate, and he noticed Robinson throw a black container out the driver’s window. According to the report, the vehicle came to a stop near Walmart at Sarasota Plaza.
The deputy approached the truck and noticed a black container with blue writing resting on top of a shrub near where Robinson had thrown something. Robinson denied tossing anything but stated that there was a loaded revolver in the center console.
The bush container contained a clear bag containing a green leafy substance, a hand-rolled marijuana cigarette with a burnt end, and a package of Zig-Zag rolling papers. A search of the vehicle yielded another black container with numerous hand-rolled burnt marijuana cigarettes on the center console. The report also stated that a white plastic handheld smoking device was found on the driver’s floorboard.
Robinson was charged with possessing marijuana, using drug paraphernalia, and deleting evidence. He was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center and freed after paying a $6,000 bond.
