Two Havana brothers are expected to spend several years in prison on federal weapons charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.
Nicholas Finley, 37, and Jason Atkinson, 43, were both sentenced to time in jail for possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon, according to a press release from the attorney’s office on Monday.
Finley was sentenced to 54 months and Atkinson to 37 months, according to the announcement. Furthermore, upon released from prison, the two are scheduled to serve three years of supervised release, according to the attorney’s office.
The sentence comes after federal agents searched the brothers’ home in July, discovering nine guns in Finley’s bedroom and various types of ammunition, according to the statement.
Further, “Atkinson was found with a round of .45 caliber ammunition in his pocket, and a .45 caliber 1911-style firearm with obliterated manufacturer’s markings and additional ammunition was found in Atkinson’s trailer,” according to the news release.
The attorney’s office stated that both individuals have many past felony convictions in and out of Florida.
