A man was arrested in Spain after attempting to get on a plane with his dead wife.
According to Spanish news outlet Diario de Avisos, the 80-year-old man attempted to pass through the metal detector at Tenerife South Airport with his wife in a wheelchair when airport security noted she was unresponsive, not breathing, and had an “abnormally low body temperature.”
When questioned by investigators, the man said that his wife died in the airport many hours previously. Staff at Tenerife, however, said he repeatedly attributed her death to the airport’s facilities, which is a claim currently being investigated.
The man was detained afterwards, and the woman’s cause of death is still unknown.
