Pa. man apprehended after Humpty Dumpty statue damaged at Cape May mini-golf course

A Pennsylvania man has been arrested, according to officials, after reportedly causing thousands of dollars in damage to a miniature golf facility in Cape May, New Jersey, by removing a Humpty Dumpty statue from its foundation and tossing it into another property.

According to Cape May police, Blane Dongas, 29, of Dallas, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with trespassing and criminal mischief during an incident on September 7, 2025, at the Ocean Putt Miniature Golf Course on Jackson Street and Beach Avenue in Cape May, New Jersey.

Officials reported that at 8:57 p.m. on that date, officers arrived to the miniature golf course and discovered a “iconic Humpty Dumpty-themed fiberglass golf structure” forcibly removed from its foundation.

Officials estimated that the structure’s repair expenses would be around $1,000, or $2,000 to replace.

During the investigation into this event, officials said, they discovered surveillance video that reportedly showed Dongas and an unidentified male walking along the side of the golf course at around 4 a.m. on September 7, 2025.

According to authorities, the camera showed Dongas climbing a barrier into the miniature golf course before breaking the Humpty Dumpty statue off its foundation. He is then accused of abandoning the sculpture on a neighboring property.

According to police, a study of Dongas’ phone records allegedly placed him near the crime scene on the night of the incident.

According to officials, Dongas turned himself in to police on January 19, 2026.
