An alleged MS-13 thug accused of killing five rival gang members in El Salvador was arrested by ICE in Virginia, according to Department of Homeland Security sources.
Edwin Antonio Hernandez, also known as “Demente” and “Crazy,” was apprehended by federal officials in Alexandria on December 31 for being in the country illegally after US Citizenship and Immigration Services referred his case to ICE, according to DHS insiders.
The 27-year-old, who illegally entered the United States in 2015, allegedly admitted to being involved in five brutal killings of rival 18th Street gang members in El Salvador, including one victim who was reportedly dismembered while alive.
In two of the grisly killings, the gangbanger allegedly told federal agents that he shot members of the 18th Street Gang, commonly known as Barrio 18, in the chest and head, according to Fox News.
In another terrible incident, Hernandez stated that MS-13 tortured a rival by stabbing him twice in the chest before slicing him up while he was still alive.
The 18th Street Gang is one of Central America’s largest and most dangerous criminal networks. It was branded a Foreign Terrorist Organization last year, a status it shares with MS-13.
According to a USCICS report obtained by the outlet, the suspected killer entered the United States illegally in Hidalgo, Texas, in June 2015.
He was apparently apprehended by Border Patrol but then freed during immigration court proceedings.
Hernandez was accused of lingering in the United States without a valid visa and illegal entrance during his December arrest, according to the report.
His arrest comes after Virginia’s newly elected governor, Abigail Spanberger, signed an executive order on her first day in office, repealing a provision for state and local police to comply with federal immigration authorities.
