A minor league baseball player was apprehended last week at his Hialeah residence for allegedly trafficking cocaine in Miami-Dade, according to authorities.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office stated that the arrest was part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
According to an arrest report, the suspect, 27-year-old Yusniel Padron Artiles, “was distributing large quantities of cocaine throughout Miami-Dade County,” according to a confidential informant.
The informant carried out four controlled cocaine purchases at a residence at 390 West 53rd Avenue in January and February, according to the sheriff’s office.
On February 19, deputies executed a search warrant at the residence and arrested Padron Artiles.
A search of the property revealed 48 small, transparent plastic baggies containing approximately 44 grams of suspected powder cocaine in a cloth bag inside a purse in the master bedroom, as well as two store receipts bearing the suspect’s name, according to the arrest report.

The sheriff’s office also found two weapons and $1,206 in cash.
Padron Artiles was placed into jail on allegations of armed cocaine trafficking and owning, leasing, renting, or possessing a location for trafficking or manufacturing a controlled substance.
The suspect is a minor league baseball player for the Portland Sea Dogs who attended Miami-Dade College, according to MLB.com. He was born in Havana, Cuba
