Lafayette Woman Sentenced To 4 Years In Prison For Role In Heavy Equipment Theft

A Lafayette woman was sentenced to four years in federal prison for her role in a multi-state scheme involving the stealing and selling of heavy equipment.

Adrienne Marie King, 39, previously pled guilty to conspiracy to transport a stolen car, altering vehicle identification numbers, and possessing 15 or more unauthorized access devices, according to the Baton Rouge U.S. Attorney’s Office.

According to federal authorities, between October 2021 and March 2022, King and three others conducted an operation in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. The government reported that the group took tractors, excavators, forklifts, and a pickup truck valued at more than $250,000.

According to investigators, the group members used more than 900 identities and gained unauthorized access to equipment to disguise their operations.

Four years ago, Livingston Parish deputies investigating a shoplifting allegation at the Juban Crossing Shopping Center uncovered a stolen pickup truck driven by King and Christopher Don Byerley, according to prosecutors.

Inside the truck, detectives discovered an unlicensed firearm silencer, a pistol, ammunition, and documentation indicating silencer parts orders. According to court records, they discovered text exchanges and images indicating their intent to trade firearms and circumvent federal rules.

Byerley was previously condemned to nearly ten years in prison for his role, and Dennis Lloyd Sizemore and Robert Brazell are still awaiting sentencing.

King was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release following her jail sentence and pay $127,000 in restitution.
