Polk County Meth Trafficker Sentenced To Prison After Lakeland Hotel Bust

A Polk County meth trafficker was sentenced after a Lakeland hotel bust found a backpack containing more than 1,300 grams of methamphetamine.

Wesley Anderson, 46, of Lakeland, was recently sentenced to 18 years in jail for possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

According to court documents, Anderson was detained outside a Lakeland hotel on January 4, 2024, on an unrelated warrant.

The hotel manager directed officers to remove the room. The officers came upon a customer who was waiting for Anderson to return to acquire narcotics from him.

A search of the room revealed a backpack containing approximately 1,300 grams of methamphetamine.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lakeland Police Department investigated this Central Florida case.

Assistant US Attorney Michael R. Kenneth prosecuted the case. Anderson pleaded guilty on August 20, 2025. Kathryn Mizelle, a United States District Judge, sentenced the defendant. United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe made the announcement.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that uses the Department of Justice’s full resources to combat the invasion of illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect local communities from violent criminals. Operation Take Back America combines actions and resources from the department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhoods.
