Nearly 2,000 pounds of drugs, firearms and cryptocurrency confiscated in monthslong crackdown in Arizona

Local, state, and federal law enforcement officials are praising the results of a months-long narcotics campaign known as Operation Mechanic. Authorities recovered about 2,000 pounds of drugs.

Maricopa County Sheriff Jerry Sheridan said the operation was motivated by concerns that Arizona is serving as a drug conduit to other states.

“Some ignorant people say, ‘Drugs are a victimless crime.'” “I’m here to inform you that drug dealers pose a direct threat to our republic and the fabric of our society,” Sheridan stated.

The authorities also seized firearms, vehicles, cash, and cryptocurrency. Also included are heroin, marijuana, and spice, a synthetic narcotic designed to simulate the euphoric effects of cannabis. Almost three dozen persons were arrested.

Attorney General Kris Mayes stated that her agency is committed to destroying organized crime networks that trade drugs.

“We seized nearly 1,750 pounds of methamphetamine, more than 113 pounds of cocaine, and over 11 pounds of fentanyl and pills,” according to Mayes.
