A Kent County man who leveraged a small lottery ticket victory to purchase an Election 100s ticket has become a millionaire.
The 31-year-old player, who preferred to remain unidentified, stated that he went to the Wesco gas station on North Main Street in Cedar Springs to cash in a $20 ticket. He put $10 in his pocket and used the remaining $10 to buy an Electric 100s ticket.
“When I scratched the ticket at the store and realized I had won $1 million, I screamed! It’s a good thing no one else was in the store, or they’d have thought I was mad!” the player exclaimed.
He recently went to Michigan Lottery headquarters to receive his award. He opted to receive it as a one-time lump sum payment of approximately $693,000.
He intends to buy a new car and save the remainder.
“Winning $1 million is life-changing and means I can do what I want to do,” the contestant commented.
Election 100s will be launched in June 2025. Each ticket costs $10 and offers players the chance to win prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million.
